Diy leather cheek rest. This is a discussion on diy leather cheek rest within the Projects forums, part of the Firearm Forum category; Just started to make one for this 1022 DSP stock for a 7/8' above the center of the bore eye level to match this Williams. AR 15 Stock: Customize the look, feel, and ergonomics of your AR setup. Choosing the right AR 15 Stock is an important factor to good shooting. Buttstocks provide great impact on your firing positions and the ease of handling or carrying your AR 15 around.
Finally, a cheek riser that moves back with the charging handle when using collapsible stocks. It's a fact that some AR's need a cheek riser to get proper cheekweld for raised scopes or rifles with raised rails. It's another fact that standard AR charging handles require a lot of travel, making it impossible to charge a rifle without moving a collapsible stock all the way to the rear. The LaRue RISR solves these problems.
Made in Texas, USA, out of glass-reinforced polymer, the RISR is spring-loaded, and travels to the rear as the charging handle is moved to the rear. When the charging handle is released, the RISR snaps forward. Designed to fit the excellent Magpul CTR butt stock without modification, the RISR only takes a few minutes to install with a phillips-head screwdriver.
The RISR comes complete with all mounting hardware.

Excellent cheek riser. Easy to install and is solid. Unfortunately it was to to high to allow me to utilize my sights/red dot optic so I had to take it off. Wish it was lower In height so that I could use it on my CTR stock.

We've purchased multiples of this RISR in past years, and have just ordered multiples of them again. We have found that with any scope mount other than low rings, this part gets the shooter back onto the rifle with an excellent cheek weld. This especially true of the red dot, which seems to sit even higher. In addition to correcting 'shooter-sight-alignment' problems; its nice that the top of the RISR actually will move with the charging handle, if the stock is collapsed. In an emergency racking situation, that could be the difference. Four screws on each side secured with supplied thread locker are attached to aluminum bar stock that runs in a channel on either inside. It's a solid mount, and since the actual stock is sandwiched between the riser and the bar stock, it's not going to get marred up. In summation, one could say: This little piece is designed a 'overkill' at its finest - but then you'd have to add what does this outfit make that isn't overkill? LOL - Chuck - San Antonio

All things LaRue, finest. Another bad ass toy that will tickle you pink. Especially with it newly discounted. This is my 4th one and it is the best cheek riser ever for the AR platform. No matter if your stock is all the way forward or to the backside the charging handle easily charges a round into the chamber thanks to a spring that jacks the cheek riser to the rear of the stock. Pretty cool stuff for $19.95. Installation is a breeze. Can't go wrong, Bothers.

Using some stuff I had laying around the house I have managed to throw together, what should suffice (if only temporary) as a cheek riser. The last think I need is a cover that goes over the riser and the stock. I will need something with elasticity, neoprene would be ideal I think. I will be holding the riser in place with either straps or duct tape so I don't expect the cover to provide any support to the stock/riser, just something that covers it up, making it a bit more comfortable and look not so bargain basement DIY. If the cover provides a little rise, say 1/4' of neoprene, that won't be an issue. If it holds shells or not I really don't care. Any suggestions? Thanks
